The Alabama Legislative Internship Program was established to engage young leaders in the state legislature by providing opportunities to gain hands-on experience in learning about the legislative process. The internship takes place during the Regular Session of the Alabama Legislature each spring, with interns reporting to the State House in Montgomery on Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is a paid internship, and most Alabama colleges and universities offer college credit for participation when arrangements are made in advance.
What Former Interns Have to Say
"This internship taught me more about how state government works than 4 years of political science college courses did. There is simply nothing that could even compare to the opportunities and experiences this internship provides." Ryleigh C.
"My experience with this internship was truly awesome and unforgettable. Anyone who serves as a legislative intern should take notice of the privilege this program allows you and the opportunities and benefits you have access to. Those who are interested in this program should know that, if you humble yourself and invest in it, this internship will truly impact you." Carter A.
"My favorite part of the internship was connecting with Members and all of the other people you meet at the State House. These relationships will benefit my career and future." Will R.
"What I have learned is priceless. My professional skills have been sharpened to the point where I am confident for any future career." Cole J.
